WINTER HAVEN - Mr. Gilbert Wallace, January 31, 1928 - February 17, 2012. As a result of a stroke, Gilbert passed away peacefully at Tampa General Hospital with family members by his side. He was born and raised in Winter Haven, FL and was a life-long resident. He was a retired firefighter that served both the Bartow Airbase and Winter Haven Fire Departments.
Gilbert was a kind, hard working and devoted father. He was one of four children born to the late Ed and Zee Wallace. Gilbert will forever be remembered by his devoted children, loving grandchildren and treasured great-grandchildren, along with countless other friends and family who were blessed to know him.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the wonderful staff at Tampa General Hospital for their warm and graceful care.
Friends and family are invited to attend the Visitation at Ott-Laughlin Funeral Home @ Glen Abbey, Auburndale, FL, from 4-6pm Sunday and Funeral Services Monday at 11am at the funeral home chapel.

So very sorry to hear of Mr. Wallace's death and wish we could be with you all today. We have missed Mr. Wallace so much, he was such a wonderful friend and neighbor to us, he was so good to us, enjoyed our visits "over the fence" for so many years, and his helping hands and unlimited knowledge, certainly helped us out so many times. We will always remember, your Dad. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you. Linda and Norman Stephenson and family. God bless all of you.

Many years have come and gone, but I remember & treasure all the good times I spent at the Wallace home, sitting on the front porch with Mrs Wallace . She taught me to crochet & Gilbert was a young man when I was in my teens.I remember when he met his wife. Then my sister Ouida would tell us all about when the children was born.
