JAN VALK Obituary
VALK, 60
WINTER HAVEN - Jan Gaines Valk passed away Tuesday, February 18th, 2014 at his home in Winter Haven. He was 60 years old. He was surrounded by his wife, Julie and his children Mieke and Jan.
Ernest Hemingway once said, "Every man's life ends the same way. It is only the details of how he lived and how he died that distinguish one man from another." It is in the details of Jan's life that you will find greatness. His love for the citrus industry was evident in his work, and the many hours spent in groves around the world and with growers across the state were hours that Jan cherished. His love for his career was only overshadowed by his love for his family. A father figure to many, a friend to more...a businessman, a boss, a Citrus man.
Jan requested donations be made to the Cassidy Cancer Center at Winter Haven Hospital, who provided him with such excellent, loving care. Flowers can be sent to Crisp-Coon Funeral Home in Winter Haven.
The Celebration of Jan's Life will be Monday, February 24th at 11 a.m. at the MacKay Gardens in Lake Alfred. Please dress casually as the service will be outside.
