WINTER HAVEN - Melba Jean Harris of Winter Haven passed away Wednesday, June 3, 2015. She was 68.
A native of Winter Haven, born November 3, 1946, Melba has lived here her entire life. She retired from the Polk County Health Department, and she was a member of the Eastside Assembly of God in Winter Haven.
Melba was preceded in death by her son Jason Michael Smith, her father: Robert C. Stafford, and her mother and step-father: Henry and Helen Best. She is survived by her sons: SSgt. Justin Harris, USA of Fayetteville, NC, and Dale Smith of Tallahassee, FL; her daughters: Angelina Carver (Kevin) and Danielle Smith, both of Winter Haven; her sisters: Kim Emerson (Rick) and Shannon Best (Craig), both of Winter Haven; and her brother: Robert T. Stafford (Edna) of Winter Haven. Melba also leaves behind 8 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Sun. from 2 to 4 PM at Oak Ridge Funeral Care in Winter Haven. Funeral Services will be Mon. at 11 AM at the Eastside Assembly of God in Winter Haven. Condolences to the family can be sent to:
