HAZEL MAHONEY Obituary

HAZEL LORAINE MAHONEY
EDINBURG - Hazel Loraine Mahoney passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, May 18, 2011 at the age of 86. Hazel was born on November 2, 1924, in Kenmare, North Dakota to Frank and Selma Baska. She married Fred Mahoney on January 24, 1948 and they had five daughters. Hazel and Fred resided and farmed in Drayton, ND and upon retirement moved to Edinburg, Texas where they had enjoyed many winters. Hazel's family was the light of her life. She delighted in cooking and sewing, always creating things for others. She had an adventurous spirit and loved to travel. The life lessons she taught her daughters, even in her final days, will continue to guide their lives. She was an inspiration to us all.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 63 years, Fred Mahoney, her daughters Winn (Mike) Pusey, Mary (Jerry) Elhard, Bev (Jeff) Johnson, Kelly (Mark) Carlson , and Chris (Todd) Rierson, her 20 grandchildren, Jeff (Nicole) Christenson, Heather (Kelly) Christenson, Andi (John) Olson, Travis Christenson, Adora (Ramon) Padilla, Kara Christenson, Justin Pusey, Melina (Eli) Elhard-Champion, Kelcie (Randall) Elhard-Rydl, Erika (Chad) Kinney, Patrick Lerud, Liz (DJ) Arsenault, Suzanne Johnson, Samantha Johnson, M. She is also survived by her brother Miles, numerous nieces and nephews, and countless friends. The family wishes to thank Pastor Laura Brewster, Josie Moctezuma, Dr. Olga Olivarez and CIMA Hospice for their compassionate care. There will be a boat procession followed by a private family celebration of Hazel's life at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Edinburg First United Methodist Church, PO Box 25, Edinburg, Texas 78539 or Drayton First United Methodist Church, PO Box 327, Drayton, North Dakota 58225. Chris, Our prayers and thoughts are with you and your entire family during this time of sorrow. We are truly sorry for your loss of your mother Hazel. May she rest in peace forever with our lord and savior JESUS CHRIST. This is just the begginning of her new life with him.

The lord is my shepherd, I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me to still waters, he restores my soul. He guides me to a path of righteousness for his name's sake. Even though I walk to the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and staff, they conmfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever. PSALMS 23 GOD BLESS U and your FAM.
Your friend in CHRIST,
Henry & Araceli De Luna
