MARIA DE LEON Obituary
SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS - Maria Carrales De León passed away on November 24, 2009 from natural causes at the age of 95. Born in Premont, TX on September 29, 1914, of parents Francisco and Gregoria Peña Carrales, Maria graduated from Mission High School. She met her beloved husband, Leo, whom she married on April 26, 1933. She is survived by her children: Dora, Dolores and husband Robert Savage, Mary Lou, Leo, Jr. and his wife, Carol, six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Maria was very active in community organizations in McAllen where she lived for over 60 years prior to moving to Dallas and then to San Antonio. She served on many boards and as officer of parochial and public schools' PTA organizations, Sacred Heart Altar Society and Acción Católica, Home Demonstration Club, Catholic Daughters of America, and served other civic organizations. Maria was completely devoted to her family and her church serving as a Eucharistic Minister and as assistant Chaplain at McAllen Medical Center for over 25 years. There will be a Rosary Service on Friday, November 27 at 7pm at Kreidler Funeral Home, 314 North 10th Street, McAllen. A memorial Mass celebrating Maria's life will be held at the Sacred Heart Church, 306 South 15th St, at 10:00 am, Saturday, November 28, 2009 with a 12:00 PM committal service at Valley Memorial Gardens. Dora and Family,
I was so sorry to hear of the passing of your Mother, but you all know that I truly understand how you feel since I went through the same experience in 2008. All my love and prayers are with all of you at this time.
She was such a beautiful woman inside and out. One of the rare women who actually lived what she taught others about the Lord. Proof of her Lord-driven life is her legacy of four wonderful children and all her grand and great-grandchildren who she dearly loved.
I love you, Dora, and again know that I certainly understand exactly what you are going through at these times and what you will go through later.
