ROCCO FASANO Obituary
DONNA - Rocco Robert Fasano, 92, of Donna,Tx, was born January 2, 1918 Toritto, Bari, Italy.
He passed away on January 21, 2010 at the Comfort House in Mcallen,Tx. Rocco came to America at the age of 7 and lived in New York City. He volunteered for the Army in 1941 receiving his citizenship papers in 1943. He was transferred to Moore Air Force base in Mission, Tx where he met his wife , Lila Ruth Farris of Donna. They were married in Dodge City, Kansas. Rocco was sent to Europe in February 1945 and served his country in WWW II.
Upon returning to his family in Donna in November 1945, he worked at Taormina Canning Co. as warehouse foreman. 1959, he became a partner with McAllen Bag and Supply, retiring in 1979. He worked with his sons as a consultant at JR Supply until his death. Rocco will always be remembered for his great love of family and friends. He loved to follow and participate in his children's and grandchildren's school and sports activities. Surviving Mr. Fasano are his wife Lila Ruth Fasano. sons: Tony (Linda) Fasano, Donna,Tx, John (Bette) Fasano of Weslaco. Grandchildren; Laura (Jimmy) Bates,Adrian (Anna) Gafford, Jeffrey Fasano, Chris Fasano , Eric (Tara) Fasano, Jason (Rebekah) Fasano, Jeana (Matthew) Lackey and Rocco (Kelly) Fasano. Great grandchildren; Jeremy and Justin Bates, Danny, Catherine and Diana Gafford, Emma and John Fasano. numerous nieces and nephews. He preceded in death by his Daughter Diana Gafford, his parents, 9 brothers and 5 sisters. A funeral mass is scheduled for today, Janury 23, 2010 at 10:00 a.m at St Josephs Catholic Church in Donna. with Fr. Pat Seitz, Pastor of St Pius X Catholic Church celebrating mass.
Interment will follow at Donna City cemetery in Donna,Tx Pallbearers will be his grandsons; Adrian Gafford, Jeffrey Fasano, Chris Fasano,Eric Fasano, Jason Fasano and Rocco Fasano. Honorary Pallbearers will be Earl Scott, Jimmy McQueen, Kenneth Hearn, Frank Taormina,Tomas Martinez,Robert Anderson Pete Williams and James Person. Those friends wishing to may make memorial contributions to Comfort House 617 Dallas Mcallen ,Texas 78501.

Rocco was a great man, and it was always great to hear his memory of me banging my feet on the desk at Kunik Co and my grandfather reprimanding me. He loved to tell that story every time I saw him!!!!! He was so special and will really be missed.

Sadly, Roc's passing marks the end of an Era. He touched the lives of so many of us in the Produce business both here now, and gone before us. He was a true friend of the industry. His humor and stories always kept things in perspective when things got a little "Excited". We will all miss him. Ruth, John and Tony, and your spouses and the grandchildren have our prayers.
