My condolences. Dr. Maienknecht was one of my favorite professors when I studied journalism at CMU. I admired his integrity.

I knew Mr. Maienknecht as Dept Head of Journalism while I worked in the Dean's Office in Anspach Hall. He had a great sense of humor and was very friendly. He will be missed. Lucille Curtiss Palmer

We're so sorry that Grandpa Maienknecht passed. He was a very caring and honest man, and it's impressive to read such a list of accomplishments especially in light of his service at Normandy on D-day. I'm especially thankful that Gil helped me select a good school (Boston University) when I was a high school senior. We'll miss you Grandpa Maienknecht!

Gil was a great friend while Jeannine & I were at CMU after I returned from the Navy in 1956. Jeannine worked in Gil's office and I did play by play on a typewriter for Football & Basketball. This was though up by Russ Herron who was also a great friend. We loved our time at Central but have been in Western Part of the USA since 1962. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family.
