Ronald Clark Obituary

Ronald A. Clark; age 30; chef, musician, superhero, and all around awesome guy, lost his hard-fought battle with cancer on the morning of May 8, 2012 at his home in Augusta, MI. Ron was a graduate of Alma High School and went on to study music at Ashland University in Ohio and culinary techniques at Le Cordon Bleu Institute of Culinary Arts in Pittsburgh. Ron was active with Youth for Christ in high school, went on a mission trip to Costa Rica, and grew up as a member of the St. John's Episcopal Church in Alma. He held very fond memories of being a participant and longtime staff member at Gordonwood Camp and Conference Center in Ortonville, MI. He was passionately involved with school and community bands, loved to cook for family and friends, enjoyed working with computers and playing videogames, and was an avid comic book aficionado. He loved jazz, coffee, and cigarettes. Ron made lifelong friends wherever he went and holds a special place in the hearts of many. He is survived by his loving wife, Heather Hoffman; his parents, Royce and Trudi Clark; his brother, Doug Clark (Kathryn Kaiser); his sister, Heather Clark (Robert Houtman); his grandparents, Ron and Judy Perry; and his nephew, Milo Clark; as well as numerous extended family members. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Fay and Lorene Clark. There will be a Celebration of Ron's Life held at Central Michigan Youth for Christ at 2550 W. Cheesman Road, Alma, MI on Sunday, May 13, 2012 at 2 p.m. Ron asked that memorial contributions be made to YFC.

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."

It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.

God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

Ron was my new son. He made my daughter shine with love. Ron was a superhero to me, because he was always ready to "come to the rescue." He listened and cared and loved more than anyone I've ever met. I know Ron is dancing on streets of gold now. He told us he'd see us "on the other side." I praise God for Ron Clark.

Ron, I am so glad I got to meet you, although the time I got to know you wasn't long enough. I truly enjoyed talking to you, and our visit this last winter/early spring. Godspeed friend..I know there are so many others who knew you so much better than I, but I remember meeting you at a horse event a while back, and just thinking, what a neat person--so interesting. You and Heather are a great match..forever. During our visit I so I enjoyed talking music, food, and life with you, and I am sorry you couldn't be with all the people who loved you longer. You will be so missed. Memory Eternal..

The title of superhero accurately describes Ron Clark. He truly showed us all what it means to be brave, and how to live and love a little better than we did before. My thoughts are with Ron's family at this time. There will never be another person quite like Ron, and he will forever live on in our hearts.
