Martin B. Prosper Sr.

It is with deep and heavy sadness that we announce the death of Mr. Martin Bernard Prosper, Sr., who passed on November 4, 2014, in Ochsner Hospital at the age of 68. A resident of Slidell, LA, Martin was born in New Orleans, LA, on June 16, 1946. Son of the late Ada August and Lawrence L. Prosper, Sr. He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Dora Wade Prosper; his daughters, Marie Wade and Maia Prosper; his son, Martin Bernard Prosper, Jr. (Julie); his grandchildren Cody and Chris Wade, and Athena Prosper; his brothers, Alvin, Lawrence (Sarah), Maurice (Debra), and Darrel (Sandra); his sisters, Gloria Gerard (Bobby), Mary Provost (Gregory), and Linda Prosper; his godchildren, Jeffery August, Tokie Magee, Nicole Torres, Tracy Wade, Sasha Yaasir, Joia, Skye, and Wynter Dalcour; and a grand host of adoring relatives and loved ones. He was preceded in death by his sister Lorraine, and brother Gerald. He was a Vietnam Veteran, retired Letter Carrier with the USPS, and served as a member of the Knights of Columbus. A funeral mass and service will be held Monday at 10:30 AM on November 10, 2014, at St. Luke the Evangelist Catholic Church in Slidell, LA. Visitation 9:30 AM at the church until service time.
