Shirley Schexnayder Obituary

Shirley Loup Schexnayder of Vacherie, LA passed away peacefully in her home on Sunday May 10, 2015. Wife of the late Richard "Dick" Schexnayder, Sr. Mother of Michelle Schexnayder Champagne, Penny Schexnayder and the late Richard Schexnayder, Jr. Mother in law of the late Francis "Frankie" Xavier Champagne, Jr. Grandmother of April Champagne Sellers (John), Melissa Champagne, Blake Champagne (Brittany) and André Schexnayder. Great grandmother of Jenna Rayne Thomassie, Brooke Michelle Sellers, Zavier Coel Thomassie, Leah Michelle Sellers, and Julianna Siobhan Thomassie. Daughter of the late Felician Joseph Loup, Sr. and Linda Tregre Loup. Sister of Annabel "Annie" Lambert, Felician "F.J." Loup, Jr., Curtis Loup, Linda "Linnie" Chauvin, and the late Ruby Roussel, Leroy Loup and Gene Loup. Sister in law of Earl Lambert, Henry Roussel, Iris Loup, Cecile Loup, Myles "Nookie" Chauvin, and Betty Loup. Also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Shirley had an infectious radiant smile that would light up the room. There wasn't a time that you don't remember her smiling. When you walked in the door you always heard "hey sugar". If you did anything for her she would say "thank you cher". She was known for her awesome margaritas, beautiful flower garden and was a wonderful seamstress. Shirley always put others first without any complaints. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at St. Philip Catholic Church, 1175 Hwy. 18 in Vacherie, LA on Friday, May 15, 2015 at 12:00 Noon. Visitation will be from 9:30 AM until Mass time. Interment will be in St. Philip Catholic Church Cemetery. Online condolences may be offered at www.gardenofmemoriesmetairie.com.

Michelle and Penny,
My condolences to you both on the death of your mother. She certainly was a sweet, attractive lady. My mom loved her a lot. I remember your mom coming over to our house for the block rosary. Then the two of them would talk about their sewing. They had great talent. May God console you during this time of sorrow! Jane & Wayne Becnel

Mickie & Penny, So sorry for your lost. May God continue to be with all of you at this time. Mrs. Shirley is the first person to make my first Prom Dress. She was an awesome seamstress. I will never forget her and how kind she was. She will truly be missed by many.
