Esther Pfeffer Obituary

Esther Ledig Pfeffer, age 91, went to join her husband of 69 years, Lawrence on May 14, 2015. She was born to William Ledig and Esther Hennisen Ledig on March 18, 1924. She is predeceased in death by her three siblings, Audrey Gagliano, Clothilde Braniff and William Ledig. She is survived by her only child, Susan Pfeffer (Patricia Schell) and numerous nieces & nephews. She was a parishioner of Our Lady of Perpetual Help and a resident of River Ridge for over 60 years. She was raised in the Irish Channel across the street from Clay Playground, which provided a wonderful source of activities throughout the years. Esther and her two sisters enjoyed playing softball together. She was an accomplished swimmer in her teens. Esther was a stay-at-home mom after Susan arrived. She packed a lunch every day for her during grammar school and also for her husband Lawrence during his 33 year working career. Her daughter and anyone that knew and loved her knew that her mother was a funny woman, especially when she didn't intend to be. Her verbal foibles were and continue to be legendary. Susan and her family want to profoundly thank her three caregivers: Virginia, Kimberly and Gerry, for without them these last 4 years would not have been possible. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Memorial Service at Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 4747 Veterans Blvd. in Metairie on Tuesday, May 19, 2015 at 11:00 am. Visitation is from 10:00 am until the time of service. Interment will be immediately following the service at Greenwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family requests that you donate to your favorite animal shelter. Condolences may be offered to the family at www.leitzeaganfuneralhome.com.
