Joyce Reeser Obituary

Joyce Hebert Reeser, 89, of River Ridge, LA passed away peacefully at Cannon Hospice in Jefferson, LA on September 28, 2016. Joyce, a native of Delcambre, LA was born on June 28, 1927. She graduated from Delcambre High School in 1944 as valedictorian of her class. She moved to New Orleans during WWII to work with The Army Corps of Engineers. She met and married Charles F. Reeser, Jr., a native of Pennsylvania who was serving in the Navy and stationed in New Orleans. Together they had six children. She was a member of St. Matthew the Apostle Catholic Church from its beginning in 1959 and was a devout Catholic. She enjoyed activities and bus trips with the Joy Ministry at St. Matthew. She truly treasured her family, friends, and faith. Joyce was known for her delicious roast, rice and gravy Sunday family dinners which she cooked for the past 40 years. Her coffee pot was always ready to serve family and friends and her home was always open to overnight guest. She also worked in the Winn Dixie accounting department for a number of years. Our dear mother is survived by four sons, Mike (Mary Anne), Charles (Liz), John, and Robert (Kim) Reeser; two daughters, Marie DiBella (Joe) and Paula Meyer (Lester); and one sister, Shirley Hebert Derise. She is also survived by 15 grandchildren, Michelle, Heidi, Trisha, Kristy, Adam, Erin, Jennifer, Tammy, Angela, Justin, Rachel, Ryan, Rebecca, Lindsey, and Kyle; and 25 great-grandchildren. She always welcomed news of another member being added to the clan with delight! Joyce was preceded in death by her husband, Charles F. Reeser, Jr.; parents, Adam and Nita Michel Hebert; brother, Rayward Hebert; and grandson, Corey Reeser. All are invited to attend a funeral Mass at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Delcambre, LA on Friday, September 30, 2016 at 11:00 am with visitation beginning at 10:00 am in the church and a rosary at 10:30 am. Pallbearers will be Mike, Charles, John, and Robert Reeser and Joe DiBella and Lester Meyer. We are so very grateful to our beloved mother and grandmother. She lived her life so well. Mom fought the good fight, she finished the race, and she has kept the faith (2 Timothy 4:7). She will be dearly missed. Thank you to all who have helped care for and visited her, especially these last four months. She loved her neighbors and her friends. Donations to honor Joyce's memory may be made to Eternal Word Television Network (EWTN), 5817 Old Leeds Road, Irondale, AL 35210-9948. To the Reeser children, i was so saddened to hear of the passing of Mrs. Joyce. So many fond memories of being next door neighbors that I still cherish today. Like Susan, i also vividly remember the mom's sitting on Mrs. Joyce's porch while we kids road our bikes up and down the cul d sac. My condolences to you all. You are in my thoughts and prayers.
