Huey P. Simmons

Huey P. Simmons, age 79, departed this life on Sunday, July 16, 2017 at West Jefferson Health Care Center. He was a native and resident of Avondale, LA. Beloved husband of Gloria C. Simmons. Loving father of Huey, Douglas, Reginald, and Leslie A. Kennedy, Levi (Trennis), Craig, Richard, and Allen Michael Simmons, Lisa (Albert) Barnes, April (Reginald) Carter, and Tina (Richard) Hawkins. Grandfather of the late Cedrick Simmons. Son of the late Richard and Sedonia P. Simmons, Harry and Elizabeth Petties. Brother of Gwendolyn Petties (Claude) Williams, and the late Judge Eugene Fitchue. Father-in-law of the late Rose Simmons; also survived by 22 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Relatives and friends of the family, also pastors, officers, and members of Little Zion Baptist Church and all neighboring churches are invited to attend the Funeral Service at Little Zion Baptist Church, 433 Avondale Garden Rd. Avondale, LA on Saturday, July 22, 2017 at 10:00a.m. Pastor Damian Brown, officiating. Visitation will begin at 9:00a.m. until service time at the above named church.
