A celebration of the life of Ann Jocelyn Heres Barham will be observed at 2 p.m., December 12, 2015, at the First United Methodist Church, Bastrop, Louisiana, following a private family burial at Christ Church Cemetery. Visitation will follow the service in the church parlor.

Mrs. Barham went to be with her Lord on December 9, 2015. Her loving family was in constant attendance at the end of her life and will miss her dearly.

A longtime resident of Morehouse Parish, Mrs. Barham was born June 21, 1929, in New Orleans, Louisiana. She is predeceased by her parents Hilda Morgan and Harold Heres and by her husband Henry Alfred Barham Jr., to whom she was married for thirty-nine years.

In addition to many other accomplishments, she received a Bachelor of Science degree in Home Economics from Louisiana State University and was a member of Chi Omega Sorority. She later graduated from Northeast Louisiana State College (now, University of Louisiana at Monroe) with a Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacy and became the first female, registered pharmacist in Morehouse Parish. For many years, she and her husband owned and operated Barham's Drug, located on the Bastrop courthouse square.

She was elected to the Morehouse Parish School Board and served two terms. She was a devoted member of First United Methodist Church for over 60 years and enjoyed membership in the Coterie Study Club.

Mrs. Barham is survived by her sister Geraldine Heres Hightower of Homer, LA; her children, Pamela David Harris (Michael), Memphis, TN, Claire Barham Mayer (Scott), Baton Rouge, LA, Henry Alfred (Rusty) Barham III (Jeanne), Monroe, LA, and Emilia Barham McCue (Robert), Bastrop, LA; her grandchildren, Anna Claire Anderson, John Charles Anderson, Jr. (Melanie), Morgan McCue Sport (Dow), Emily Harris Halpern (Joel), Elizabeth Anderson Pendarvis (Zack), Lucy Harris Collins (Josh), Caroline Emilie-Jeanne Barham, and Henry Alfred Barham IV; and her great-grandchildren, James and Pierce Pendarvis, Jackson and Rowan Halpern, Liam Sport, and Annalise and Wren Anderson.

The family wishes to acknowledge and thank Mrs. Barham's devoted caregivers, including Linda Badger, Brenda Lewis, Glenda Spurs, Shamanda Douglas, Pat McIntyre, and the nurses of Louisiana Hospice, Nita Gandy, Amie Janes and Donna Ware.

Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Bastrop, Louisiana or the charity of choice.

Pam, Clair, Emelia and Rusty: I am so sorry to hear of your mom's passing. She was a true lady, so poised, cultured and smart. I have so many fond memories of her.....from church, many times playing in your home, having you all across the street from Grandmother and Granddad and later my mom. I know you and all who knew her are grieving her passing, but we will all carry the memories of her in our hearts. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your families.......
Love, Kim Turpin Davis
