Bernard Levy Obituary
Bernard Freeland Levy, 64, died Sunday, October 4, 2015 at 07:30 AM. He was a native of New Orleans, LA and resident of Houma, LA.
Visitation will be held on Friday, October 9, 2015 from 11:00AM until service time at Chauvin Funeral Home, Inc. Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 9, 2015 at 1:00PM at Chauvin Funeral Home, Inc., with burial to follow at St. Francis No. 2 Cemetery, Houma, Louisiana.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Marx Levy, son, Bernard Freeland Levy Jr. and fiance' Isabelle Yves Tabor, daughters, Marion Levy Larke and husband Jeffrey Rome Larke, and Anna Levy Plaisance and husband Michael Paul Plaisance Jr., brothers, Stephan Edward Levy and Scott David Levy, sisters, Martha Elizabeth Levy, Katherine Levy Strom and husband John Strom, Lisa Levy Menard and husband Sonny Menard, and Mary Frances Levy Templeton and husband Ben Templeton, grandchildren, Haley Elizabeth, Elizabeth Carol Larke, and Elise Catherine Larke.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Nathan Levy and Elizabeth Freeland Levy, and son, Nathan Isaac Levy.
He was a thirty-five year public servant of Terrebonne Parish. He served his community as an attorney, public defender and child advocate.
He enjoyed fishing, horses, and spending time with his family, friends, and K-9 companions; Lucy and Heather.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations may be made to the Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center and CASA of Terrebonne.

I just found out about Bernard, I am so sorry. He was a very special man and helped me at a very bad time in my life. I served on a jury a couple of years ago and he was the attorney for the accused. I enjoyed remininsing with him then. His love for Barbara and the children was always very evident. He will be greatly missed.

I don't even know how/where to begin... Can't imagine the loss your family feels... It's been decades since seeing Bernards siblings, such good memories of Ben, his parents and their family... To Barbara and your family...... The last time I saw him he shared with me just how much he loved you and your children....The wonderful contrabutions he made to his community and those he touched will live on ....... Bernard was the kind of man who would find a way to make you laugh when you were having a "bad day," even when he was in the midst of a series of bad days. He was sarcastic (which I loved) but upbeat. It was a joy to call him colleague, a pleasure to call him my friend. I will forever miss him. My prayers are with his family. So sorry for your loss. Bernard was a family friend and a grade school and high school friend. Our parents were friends. He was my Homecoming Escort at CCHS for the Court as a senior football player. His sister, Martha and I were also high school friends along with his sister, Katherine. He sat in front of me for most of our school years as we were seated in alphabetical order. Barbara, Leonard and I send our prayers to you and your family. We were so sadden to hear of Bernards passing. We both thought fondly of Bernard. No matter where we saw him he would always ask how everyone was doing. I enjoyed working with him way back in the 90's. It is with a heavy heart that I write these words having just learned of Bernard's passing. Bernard and I spent some time together in our early years. We were adventurous to say the least but for the most part stayed out of trouble, depends on who you ask. I will cherish those memories forever.
