He adored his grandchildren and they adored him, they were "buddies". He truly loved his wife of 43 years and was looking forward to celebrating their 44 years of marriage together in April.

Besides his wife, Robert is survived by a daughter, Meredith and her husband, Claus Albrecht, of Consho-hocken, Pa.; a son, Justin Spies, of King of Prussia, Pa.; a sister, Mary Smeriglio, of Guilford; and two grand-children, Lucas Robert, and Spencer Marco Albrecht.

Though it's been 11 years since his passing Bob is still remembered fondly. We still recount his golfing adventures (misadventures?) and his generosity and kindness. Bob loved the August golf trip and we are so pleased to hear that Justin is now a participant. We are sure Bob is looking down on Justin with a knowing smile as he looks for his golf ball in the woods, water, .... !

Dear Eileen, Meredith, Justin, and Family
We all share your loss and sorrow. The world has lost a food father, a good friend, and a good man. But, what are not lost are the good memories (and there are a LOT of them) we all have of Bob and how our lives are better from the times he shared with us.

Dear Eileen and family –the world has lost one of the kindest souls I have ever known. Bob was the first person I worked with when I moved to Connecticut in 1987, and I have treasured his friendship ever since. His impish smile, his twinkling eyes, his laughter, his kind and gentle ways – these are the traits I will always remember about Bob. May you and the family find comfort in knowing that Bob touched many lives and that we all send prayers and love. Bobbie and David Routhier

Bob's kindess, softspoken nauture, infectous smile, and love for you all bespoke of the gifts he gave to this world and the memories he left for you Ei his wife, you Justin his son, you Meridith his daughter, and to his special grandchildren he was just getting to know. Dear Elaine and family. Sadden to learn of Bob's passing. Prior to my retirement from Yale, enjoyed working with him in the ITS Dept. He always had a smile and a positive attitude.
