Lois Hughes Obituary

Hughes, Lois J.

Lois J. Hughes, 78, of Oshkosh, passed away at Parkview Health Center on Thursday morning, October 11, 2012, with her husband at her side as always. Lois was born on May 26, 1934, in Oshkosh, a daughter of Louis and Josephine (Mathe) Stadler. Lois married Robert E. Hughes, Oshkosh, on April 23, 1955. Lois joined her husband in the ownership of Hughes' Homaid Chocolates, Ltd. and came alongside him in the confectioners' profession.

Her memory will be cherished by her loving husband, Bob; two sons, Thomas (Pauline) Hughes of Oshkosh; and William (Margaret) Hughes of Madison, WI. Lois will also be tenderly remembered by her three sisters Dorothy (Donald) Phillip, Alice (Eugene) Bloechl, and Carol Stadler; one brother, Darrel Stadler; grandchildren Rachel (Bret) Lugo, of Washington, D.C.; Michael (Audra) Hughes of Madison, WI; Amanda (fiance, Alex Hagen) Hughes of Madison, WI; and Bret Hughes of Oshkosh; three great-grandchildren Harrison, Hudson, and Houston Lugo. Lois is further survived by a special niece, Connie (Jim) Stevenson; three special friends, Wendy Drexler, Diane Williams and Linda Schabloski; as well as numerous relatives and other friends. She was preceded in death by her son, Steven Hughes; parents; and sister, Lorraine (Walter) Wright.

Lois' husband, their sons, and families were number one in her life! She also enjoyed ceramics and a variety of collections such as music boxes and Swarvoski crystal - but most of all she, her sisters, and a dear friend, Helen Luft chased around collecting Beanie Babies and enjoying every minute of the hunt.

A private family celebration was held on Saturday, October 13, at Fiss & Bills-Poklasny Funeral Homes, 865 S. Westhaven Drive, Oshkosh, with The Rev. William Van De Kreeke (Father Bill) officiating.

Lois was a very loving, caring, and giving person. She was described as "a sweet woman" by all who knew and loved her. Her "sweetness" will be with us always.

The family wishes to thank Father Bill for his concern and visits, the medical professionals who gave excellent care to Lois for many years with special acknowledgement to Dr. Ammar Alzoubi and Dr. Stephen Wilson and also those at Woodside North Parkview Health Center for their care and kindness during the past difficult months of Lois' life.

Inurnment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Oshkosh. The family asks that no flowers or plants be sent. To view and sign the guestbook, please visit: www.fissbillspoklasny.com
