Thomas Hintz Obituary

Hintz, Thomas R.

Thomas R. Hintz, 59, of Oshkosh passed away Sunday, November 17, 2013 after a hard fought battle with cancer. He was born on February 1, 1954 in Milwaukee, WI to Lionel and Audrey Hintz.

Tom graduated from UW-Oshkosh where he met Lee Ann Roberts and on August 21, 1976 was lucky enough to marry her. After having two beautiful daughters, they returned to Oshkosh from Milwaukee where he began Keglers Korner Bowling Pro Shop. Thanks to the success of his 20 years of hard work and cohorts Tim Mathe and Wes Langkau, he was able to sell his business and retire at the age of 46. During his retirement he kept himself busy with many different PROJECTS, gardening, landscaping, quilting and spent a lot of time with his much cherished granddaughters.

He is survived by his wife Lee Ann (Roberts), his daughters Jillian (Adam) Rooker of Plymouth, WI and Kathryn Hintz (Dan Bandt) of Darboy, WI, granddaughters McCartney and Evelyn Rooker, Adelynn Kohlbeck, his brand new grandson, Henry Bandt, his mother-in-law Audrey Roberts, brothers and sisters Michael (Sheryl) Hintz, Lee Hintz, Tammy (Nic) Mueller, Randy Hintz (Edward Hoover), Jody Avery, Gerry Avery, Tony Hintz and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, his adopted brother 'Baby Tony' Hintz and his father-in-law Thomas Roberts.

On Thursday, November 21st from 11:00am to 4:00pm there will be an open house held at his home. This will be a celebration of Tom's life and we encourage those of you with whom he touched to join us with your memories, stories and any of his bad jokes you may remember.

Thank you to all of the friends and family who have helped and visited in the past 2 months. He felt truly blessed to have so many people out there that cared about him and his family. His wife and daughters would also like to extend a heartfelt thank you for the care he received from the doctors and nurses in the emergency room and ICU at Mercy Medical Center in Oshkosh, The Neuroscience Group in Neenah, Theda Care in Oshkosh, Michael D. Wachtel Cancer Center and Fox Valley Hematology & Oncology, S.C.

In lieu of flowers a memorial fund will be set up at Oshkosh Central Credit Union in his name and be used in accordance with his final wishes.

Thoughts and prayers for Tom's family. Knew Tom via the University bowling program. Could not have been a nicer guy and was a great supporter of the collegiate bowling program.

So sad to hear of Tom's passing. Although we hadn't seen him in awhile, I will always remember his humor and his kind heart - and how he would tease me because I could never test-roll a bowling ball in the shop!

Our deepest sympathies to the Hintz family. Tom, you have been taken from us far too soon. Of course, God must have a 'project' that he needs you to do for him. It was always enjoyable to visit with you and Timmy at Keglers Korner. Always supportive and congratulatory of those who you have helped in bowling. To this day, I carry a copy of your practice tips. Seeing a Sheltie always reminds me of you. Never have we left your presence without a smile on our faces. While we mourn your absence, we embrace in having you in our lives and the impression that you have left on us. Thank you, Tom, for being our friend.

My deepest Sympathy to the Hintz Family. God welcomed a great man today! I've never met someone who so genuinely wanted to know everything about you and never once talked about himself. You truly had an amazing gift, Tom Hintz. May we rest knowing you lived every day to your fullest and set such a good example for us all to live by!

We are all deeply saddened to hear of Tom's passing. He was a great guy and enjoyed life fully. We will all cherish the days he spent working with us at Bowlers Pro Shop, back when we were young and somewhat foolish. Joey, Dennis and Mickey
