Susan Thalacker Obituary
Susan Louise (Ulezelski) Thalacker, 72, of Lake Monticello, died on Friday, May 30, 2014 at her home.
She was born on October 1, 1941, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, a daughter of Mary (Fox) Ulezelski of Redgranite, Wisconsin and the late George Ulezelski.
In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Thalacker; her daughter, Krista Hansen; her sister, Anita Ulezelski; and her brother, Thomas Ulezelski.
Mrs. Thalacker was a member of Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Palmyra, Virginia. She married her high school sweetheart, Don in 1964. His career with the U.S. Government immediately led them on a path of world travel. Places she lived included Lebanon, Liberia, Laos, Nepal, Israel, Germany, Honduras, Finland and Panama. She raised her two daughters to appreciate all the cultural diversity they could experience.
Of late Susan enjoyed helping with church needs, working at the Fluvanna County Library, doing hair out of her home, reading, and working out in her garden. Her two greatest loves though, were spending time with her granddaughter, Alex and playing tennis.
Survivors include her mother; her daughter, Beth Ann Hammelbacher and her husband, Richard, of Smyrna, Delaware; her granddaughter, Alex Hansen and her son-in- law, Jorn Hansen of Chantilly, Virginia; two brothers, Charles Ulezelski of Jacksonville, Florida and Rick Ulezelski of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; extended family, Amanda Burns, Arianna Varela, and Natalie Jasper of Rising Sun, Maryland; and a world full of friends.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Friday, June 20, 2014 at 11:00 AM at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church.
Memorial contributions may be sent to: Lake Monticello Rescue Squad, 14 Slice Rd, Palmyra, VA 22963; or Hospice of the Piedmont, 675 Peter Jefferson Parkway, Suite 300, Charlottesville, VA 22911.
