My thoughts and prayers go to the family! As you can see, your father was a very special teacher in Clawson and has touch us each in different ways. He even went on our family vacation out west one summer. My sister and I couldn't go to any of the National Parks without mentioning what we had learned from our great teacher. "Mr. Denstaedt said..."! I am still a Geography fanatic because of him. I will continue to keep all the good times I had in his class and on our trip to D.C. in my mind and heart. RIP The Great Mr. Denstaedt!

I had Mr. Denstaedt for 7th grade geography and he was the one who gave me my nickname that I have had for my whole life. I loved seeing all the slides from his incredible trips. He was an amazing teacher. To his sons-I'm so very sorry for your loss.

“Teacher.” What a noble profession, offering the opportunity to shape and mold young lives in a positive manner and to provide guidance and direction to hungry minds and no one was better at it than him. Mr. Denstaedt was my teacher, and I – like countless others – was very fortunate to have access to his wisdom and assistance. He made learning fun and was a positive influence on me and countless others like me. We became better people because of him. Rest in peace sir – you were a good man, you helped many, many young people, and your life was meaningful and very well spent.

It has been more than 40 years since I last saw John, yet I recognize that smile and those sparkling eyes! I have many fond memories of the Denstaedt family during my childhood and teenage years. John was my first teenage crush, but also the big brother I always wished I'd had. My heart goes out to all his family as you deal with a loved one - gone too soon.

So sorry for the loss of Mr. Denstaedt. He was the best man I ever met. My two boys would have dropped out of school if it wasn't for him. Most caring teacher I ever met. He will forever be miss. He will remain in our heart's forever. R.I.P.

Scott and Geoff,
I am saddened by your father's passing. John co-taught with me in Clawson and I always enjoyed his insight and support. He loved you both dearly and also the children he taught. He followed his student's progress and even went to their graduations from high school. I will hold dearly to the memories of times spent with John. He will be missed by many.

I have fun memories of your class at Clawson Jr High. Then I had the privilege of getting to know you as an adult when you taught my children at Kenwood Elementary. You were at every one of their graduations. You were one of those teachers who genuinely cared for their kids and you made a positive impact on the lives you touched. We will see you again my friend. Our family will miss you much and our prayers go to your sons and family.

Geoff and Scott, I want to express my condolences to both of you. Your dad was so proud of you both. He was also a wonderful teacher; connecting to each of his 'kids' and their families. He mentored me demonstrating the importance of finding the best in each student, making a connection and rewarding their hard work. I will always honor his memory.

It is hard to remember a time that John was not smiling and happy to be involved in whatever the event was where family and friends gathered. He loved life and he lived it well. John will be missed by those who loved him and called him their friend.
