Larry Burbage Obituary

Larry W. Burbage 1931 to 2011

It is with great sadness that the family of Larry W. Burbage announces his passing on March 17, 2011 at Capital Medical Center in Olympia, Washington. Larry was born to Weldon Peter Burbage and Eillen Diess Burbage on March 12, 1931 in Bismarck, North Dakota. After his first marriage ended in divorce at a young age, Larry eagerly accepted the responsibility of raising his two sons, Steven and Michael. At the time it was rare for a father to become the custodial parent and Larry is to be admired and respected for the marvelous job he did raising his two boys.
On February 1, 1958 he married Wardie "Rose" Jaha in Vancouver, Washington. Larry and Rose were a devoted couple and enjoyed 44 years of marriage until her passing in 2002. Larry worked as a truck driver, sheet rocker, oyster farmer and a millwright. In 1993 he retired from Hardel Plywood.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Rose; brothers, Jimmy and Verne Burbage; and sister, Donna. He is survived by his sons, Steven (Mary) of Tenino Washington, and Michael (Suzanne) of Meriden, Connecticut; sisters, Marlene Rust, Des Moines, Washington, and Audrey Morey, Missoula, Montana; brothers, Robert Rebenitch, Lochbuie, Colorado, Ed Sharbono, Polson, Montana, Duane Sharbono, Missoula, Montana, and Alva Dean Sharbono, Stevensville, Montana. He will also be lovingly remembered by four granddaughters and one step-grandson, and six great- grandchildren.
Although Larry was a humble and modest man, he was also incredibly personable and had an innate ability to make friends with everyone with whom he came in contact. He will be greatly missed by family and friends alike.
The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the wonderful staff members of Sunrise Chateau and the dedicated nurses and doctors of Capital Medical Center for their compassion, empathy and quality of care towards Larry and his family during these difficult final months.
At Larry's request, no services will be held. He will be interred in Tumwater, Washington alongside his beloved Rose. There will be a Celebration of Life held on April 23, 2011. All family and friends are invited to come and share their memories of
Larry. Please call (360)264-4535 for location and directions.

Steve & Mike,

I was stunned and saddened to learn of your Dad's passing. Although I had not seen him in recent years, it seems like not so long ago and it's easy for me to to hear his laugh and see his smile. Your Mom and Dad were such a huge part of my growing-up years, I will never forget either of them and always smile when I think of those times: trips to Portland, learning (from your Mom) to drive, sleepovers at your house, bonfires, skiing, Elvis music, Rex, Joe and Marlene's, your Aunt Emily, your cousin Helen, Cleveland's goat, . . . so much. I wish for you both, enough loving memories to hold you, with a smile or a tear, forever. Bless you and your families.

Grandpa, I love and miss you very much. I will always remember you exactly as you were, generous, and loving. I have so many memories of us,spending time as a family, when I was younger, it's hard to believe you are no longer here. But I know one day I will see you and Grandma Rose again. Rest in peace, and know that you are truely missed. I love you.

We loved him Deeply and will miss him very much. It was a real privilege to be a part of his life, not only as my brother, but as our dear friend. Larry was a kind and gentle man who loved his family and friends. Quick to help any one in any way he could.
Our thoughts and prayers are with each and every one of you. May God be your strength at this time.
