Robert W. Allison of Olympia, WA formerly of Centralia passed away peacefully on Friday, January 28, 2011 following a sudden, acute illness. Bob was born in Camas, WA in 1923. As a good friend said, "He was a woods-wise hiker, a teacher, a poet, was attentive to history, and was a kind, modest man." He made his living first as a dairy farmer and then as an educator.
Bob is survived by three of his children: Glen (Alice) Allison, Beth (Bob Werber), and Donna (Marty Shilley); his son-in-law, Steve Soltesz; his grandchildren Douglas, Zach, Nate, Kristen, and Andrew; his dear brother, Paul Allison and family; and the extended Dexter family. He was preceded in death by his brother, Ted, his first wife, Colleen, his second wife, Mary Jane, and his daughter, Leslie. Bob was much loved.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 19, 2011 at 3:00 p.m. at the Olympia Unitarian Universalist Congregation at 2300 East End Street NW, Olympia, WA.

Bob was a fine person, and on the relatively few occasions I visited with him, I was always astounded at the breadth of his knowledge and inspired by his kindness.
