Yukiko Abo Obituary

Yukiko Abo

Yukiko Abo was born in Olympia, Washington, on December 9, 1919 and peacefully passed away at her home on Oyster Bay on April 17, 2011, at the age of 91. As a young child, Yukiko returned with her mother to Hisio, near Hiroshima, Japan. She attended school there and later was married to Tadayasu Abo. The couple moved to Olympia in 1938 to work for the Olympia Oyster Company. They worked together for the company for over 30 years.
Family and friends were always treated as welcomed guests to special Japanese dishes at Yukiko's table. Her life was beautiful whether in thoughts, words or deeds. She had an extensive garden modeled after the gardens of Japan and included many Wisteria, Peonies, Azaleas, Rhododendrons and Flowering Cherry trees.
Yukiko was preceded in death by her husband, Tadayasu. She is survived by her children, Joe (Mary) of Bremerton, Nancy Nance (Russ) of Tacoma, Ron (Terri) of Gig Harbor and Lucy Leitz (Michael) of Ketchikan, Alaska. She is also survived by three grandchildren, Andy and Julie Abo and Ian Leitz, and three great grandchildren, Maya and Aiko Abo Dominguez and Lily Abo.
