Elizabeth MacPHEE Obituary

Published by Vancouver Sun and/or The Province from Nov. 10 to Nov. 11, 2012.
MacPHEE, Elizabeth Anne (nee Arnold)
April 1938 - November 4, 2012
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Betty Anne MacPhee. After a three year struggle with a severe illness, she quietly and peacefully passed away in the Mission Memorial Hospice on the evening of November 4, 2012. She is survived by her husband Jim, her daughters Lori MacPhee and Shelley Hendrickson (Todd), her grandchildren Taylor, Alec, Ally and Kaitlyn, sister Pat (Bill) Kotush, sister Roberta (Bruce) Gladwin and brother Jack (Judie) Arnold, many special nieces and nephews, her extended family and friends. Betty will be remembered in many communities. In her early years she was well- known for her dancing in North Vancouver. On Vancouver Island ran a Preschool for 15 years in Nanaimo and then in Lantzville she owned and operated the Gingham Cottage for many years. When she moved to Mission in 2001, she again immersed herself in the business community and was treasured for her flower arranging talents. Her drive and her desire to contribute were always admired and respected by those around her. Betty will be remembered by her family and friends for her genuine goodness in every aspect of life. She modelled a drive to achieve, respect for family and tradition, and inspired everyone to be and do their best. We have lost a wife, mother, sister, aunt, gramie and an extraordinary person. Betty will be missed by many. We are so thankful for the gifts and contributions she made to our lives. We have so greatly benefitted from her life. Family and friends would like to extend our sincerest gratitude for the care and comfort Betty received at the Mission Hospice. The doctor, nurses, staff and volunteers made her final journey as comfortable as possible. We are extremely grateful for their skills, care and supportive words. For those wishing to do so, in lieu of flowers, as Betty was given tremendous care please consider making donation to Christine Morrison Hospice at Mission Memorial Hospital in her honour. A Celebration of Life will be held at Northview Golf and Country Club, Sunday, November 18, 2012 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., 6857 - 168th Street, Surrey, BC.
