Julian Baker Obituary

Mr. Julian Baker, 92, a resident of The Leland of Laurel Run, Waynesboro, and formerly of Loop Road, South Mountain, PA, died Thursday morning, June 22, 2017, in the assisted living center.
Born March 18, 1925 in South Mountain, PA, he was the son of the late Harry E. and Martha (Stahley) Baker. He was a lifelong resident of the South Mountain area.
Mr. Baker served with the United States Army during World War II, serving in both the European and Pacific Theaters.
He and his wife, the late Cloma G. (Brown) Baker, were married on November 16, 1946 in Chambersburg, PA. They moved to Loop Road in 1951. Mrs. Baker died on October 20, 2000.
In his early life, Mr. Baker worked in construction. He later worked as a painter at the South Mountain Restoration Center, retiring in 1984 after more than 29 years of service.
He was a member of Order of Owl's Nest #1073, Waynesboro and the South Mountain Fish and Game.
Mr. Baker enjoyed fishing, mowing grass, playing the bowls, and scratch off tickets.
He is survived by one daughter, Marian Wagaman and her husband, Gene of South Mountain; his daughter-in-law, Dorothy Jean Baker of Fayetteville; 6 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Myrtle Kauffman of Fayetteville; one brother, Lawrence Baker of Fayetteville; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his son, Wendell E. Baker; and 7 brothers and sisters.
Services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Monday, June 26, 2017, in Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro, with Matthew Hurley officiating. Burial will follow in Strang's Cemetery, South Mountain, where military graveside honors will be conducted by the honor guard of Charles Nitterhouse V.F.W. Post #1599, Chambersburg.
The family will receive friends on hour prior to the services, Monday morning, in the funeral home.
