Willa Petersen, 86, of Vacaville, passed in peace and comfort, attended to by the caring and loving staff of the Vacaville Convalescent and Rehab Center. She was surrounded in love by her husband, their 4 children and spouses and numerous grandchildren.
She was born in Chattanooga, Tenn., to Norine Morgan and Edward S. Ayers. She met the love of her life, "Pete," during the World War II era. They spent more than 30 years in U.S. Army military assignments. After military retirement, they moved to Vacaville in 1978. They continued their love of overseas travels.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 66 years, Eugene Petersen Jr.; children, John (Louise) Petersen of Hartland, Wis., Linda (William) Standage of Puyallup, Wash., Mark (Sheryl) Petersen of Concord, Calif., and Richard (Dana) Petersen of Okinawa, Japan; 10 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Her great love was her family.
A funeral will be 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 27, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 360 Portsmouth Drive, Vacaville. Prior to the service, a viewing will begin at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at 1 p.m. at the Sacramento Valley National Cemetery, 5810 Midway Road, Dixon.
