Leslie Allen Pugh, 94, passed away on March 6, 2011, of natural causes in Grapevine, Texas. He was born in Woodland, Calif., in 1917.
Leslie leaves three daughters, Sandra J. Lamb of Jacksonville, Fla., Leslie A. Atkins of Santee, Calif., and Laura D. Pugh of Grapevine, Texas; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Leslie and Grace moved to Leisure Town, Vacaville, from Fairfield in 1969 and he remained there until 2008. They traveled the U.S. and Canada in their motorhomes. They had been members of the Improved Order of the Redmen and Degree of Pocahontas, and were active members of the McBride Senior Club in Vacaville.
Leslie was a retired warrant officer from the United States Navy, serving mostly on submarines such as several built on Mare Island, Calif. Leslie's grandmother, Augusta Sears, owned the land in Winters where the old Post Office was installed in 1906 when the railroad first came to Winters.
He fondly remembered his long life in California, from San Diego to Sacramento, the last years in the company of some wonderful friends around Vacaville.
Anyone who would like to come and share a few words at his full military burial will be warmly welcomed by his three daughters, three of his grandchildren, and the youngest little great-granddaughter.
Full military funeral ceremony, graveside, will be held on July 1 at 11 a.m. at Winters Cemetery.
Ashes to be buried together with his wife, Grace Viola Pugh, deceased Nov. 1, 2000.
