Retired Master Sgt. Henry C. Romiski Sr. passed away on Nov. 4, at David Grant Medical Center, Travis Air Force Base, after losing his battle with cancer.
Henry Romiski was born Aug. 13, 1922, to Aloysius and Stephania Romiski in Wilkes Barre, Pa.
He enlisted in the United States Army in October 1939, and was retired from the United States Air Force in January 1960. His service included the Airborne Radio Operator in the China Burma Theatre of the Pacific during World War II where he and his crew crossed The Himalayas in a C 47 delivering goods and supplies to troops (the legendary Flying The Hump).
After his retirement, he worked at Travis AFB at 60th Avionics and then on to Mare Island where he continued his work in national defense electronics.
His love for outdoor sports, especially watching the Oakland A's and taking trips to the casino were among his favorite pastimes, but overall, his family was his greatest love.
He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Mary L. Romiski; children, Henry, Rosa, Vicky and Robert; 12 grandchildren; and extended family. He will be greatly missed by all.
The public viewing will be held on Nov. 15, from 5 to 8 p.m. Services will be held on Nov. 16, at 12:30 p.m. at Nadeau Family Funeral Home, 180 E. Monte Vista Ave., Vacaville, Calif. Burial will be held at 2 p.m. at Sacramento Valley National Cemetery on Midway Road in Dixon.

Mr. Rominski was my "Branch Chief" at Travis AFB from '79-'82. As a struggling young A1C, far from home... we were not close. i never forgot him or his role in Air Force history. Now, after retiring from the Air Force myself (25 years ago) I still work for the US Air Force. Rest in Peace, Mr. Rominski. I never forgot you. You were and are an inspiration.

My deepest condolences to the Romiski family. I will always remember the teasing I received whenever I would visit. I guess I am gullible, One time in particular I remember, he was going skeet shooting with his son Hank, so I thought it was like hunting, He asked me "if I knew how to cook skeet". He always got me! For over 40 years he was Dad to me, always had a hug for me and told me he loved me, I will always cherish that. He was a great man and feel very fortunate to have known him and been part of the family.
Death leaves a heartache no one can heal,
love leaves a memory no one can steal.
