James Amos Edmondson of Vacaville passed away in Fairfield on Monday, Nov. 15, following a brief illness.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Carol J. Edmondson; his son, David Edmonson (Karen) of Webster, N.Y., and grandsons Henry and William; his daughter Sandra Chancellor (Paul) of Vacaville, and granddaughters Amy and Maggie; sisters Joan Williamson of Hatfield, Pa. and Mary Wallace of Big Fork, Mont.; and brother-in-law, Michael Jory of Vacaville.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Leslie and Georgia Town Edmondson, and a sister, Wilma Edmondson.
Jim Edmondson was born in Los Angeles County, Calif., and grew up in Carmel Valley in Northern California. He went on to serve in the U.S.A.F, as a pilot and air traffic controller, retiring in 1974 at Travis Air Force Base at the rank of major.
A loving husband, father, brother and grandfather, he enjoyed travel, especially to the National Parks in the western United States, but most of all, enjoyed watching his grandchildren play.
A fan of the San Francisco 49ers, he agonized with their recent struggles but was able to watch and enjoy their recent win against the rival Rams.
In lieu of flowers, donations are requested to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, or the donor's preferred charity.
A graveside service will be held at the Sacramento Valley National Cemetery in Dixon.
A reception will follow the service.
