Lester Swift Obituary

LESTER SWIFT Lester V. Swift, 92, of Towamencin Twp., died April 1, 2011 at Gwynedd Square Center. He had lived in Towamencin Twp. since 1981 and was formerly from Center City Philadelphia. Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Edward and Louisa Lowe Swift. He was a member of the class of 1936 at Norristown High School and attended LaSalle College in 1947 and 1948. He served in Patton's 3rd Army in Europe during WWll. He was a contract negotiator at the Frankford Arsenal in Phila. for 30 years. He was a member of the Hatfield American Legion, Post No. 933, National Assn. of Retired Federal Employees, Lansdale Senior Center and was a volunteer Fireman in Upper Darby. Mr. Swift was a member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Upper Gwynedd. He is survived by several nieces and nephews. Mr. Swift was preceded in death by two sisters, Ruth K. Brooks and Elizabeth Watson. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Funeral Mass Wednesday, April 6 at 10:30AM at Corpus Christi Church, 920 Sumneytown Pike (at Supplee Road) in Upper Gwynedd, where the family will receive friends from 9:30 to 10:30AM. Interment will be in St. John Neumann Cemetery. Arrangements are by Simcox-McIlvaine Funeral Home, Lansdale.
