Tiger is the only one of us who never met and cherished Joe's friendship. Ben, Michelle and I will never forget the good times shared in your home, especially with Joe's wit and honesty--yes, he was one of a kind. We sincerely share your sorrow.

I have known Joe since 1967 when I first placed several calls a day to Joe when he worked in General Accounting. I got to know him as a voice before meeting him in person. Over the years we became friends.
Our working relationship continued through till his retirement from SIU. He was a great guy and will certainly be missed by all who knew him.
May God be with his family as they mourn his passing.

Your loss is felt with the countless people who were fortunate enough to have known Joe. Joe was the smartest kid I knew. He kept his eye on the prize. Even after the accident, he was looking forward to the next challenge. I haven’t seen Joe since I moved from Harrisburg 50 years ago, but the memories of grade school thru the first two years of high school are as clear today as if they were yesterday.

Joe and I were raised in the same neighborhood, where we and other neighborhood friends spent a lot of time playing ball and playing on the many steps to Joe's front porch. I remember the accident like it was yesterday, but Joe and the other two survivors did not allow that to hamper their goals. Joe and I sat next to each other in biology and other classes, since he was an M and I was an O. He was always serious about his school work, but was also witty and interactive with other students and friends. He also had the sweetest mother, who was the life force to his being successful.
