Ralph Hawley Obituary

MURPHYSBORO -- Ralph C. Hawley, 75, formerly of Union City, Penn., passed away at 10:02 p.m. Friday, June 3, 2011, in Memorial Hospital of Carbondale.

Ralph was born Aug. 28, 1935, in Waterford, Penn., to Roy Hawley and Mabel (Bidwell) Hawley.

Mr. Hawley had worked for a total of 46 years at Penn Brass and Copper Company in Erie, Penn., and at Penn-Aluminum in Murphysboro, where he retired as a foreman.

He was an avid craftsman and had made different items that were auctioned off at the Sallie Logan Library. He also enjoyed fishing.

Ralph married Mildred Chunderlek on March 3, 1956, in Union City, Penn., and she survives of Murphysboro.

Other survivors include four children, Cheryl Capela and her husband, Norman Capela, and Ronald Hawley, and his wife, Leigh Hawley, all of Union City, Penn., Leonard Hawley of Sedelia, Mo., and Regina Pieron and her fiancée, Andy Evans of Murphysboro; seven grandchildren, Chip Capela, Jeremy Capela, Jason Capela, Brandy Hawley, Krystal Hawley, Casey Pierson and Jaime Evans; two great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn Capela and Trevin Capela; two brothers, Jim Hawley and Keith Hawley; and three sisters, Sally Hawley, Gloria Hawley and Anna Appleby.

He was preceded in death by four brothers, Mike, Paul, Dale and Larry Hawley and his parents.

His body was cremated and there will be private services.
