Audie Wall Obituary

WEST FRANKFORT -- Audie Wall Jr., 87, passed away at 10:50 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 24, 2010, at his residence.

He was born Jan. 22, 1923, in Johnston City to Audie Wall Sr. and Teracie (Anderson) Wall.

Survivors include a daughter, Kim and husband, John Tate, of Benton; grandchildren, Chris Johnson of Metamora, Michael Johnson of St. Louis, Molly Tate of Christopher, Jeff Wall II of Hodgkins and Kace Wall of Willowbrook; three great-grandsons, Noah and Nick Johnson and Jeff Wall III; brother, Bill Wall of West Frankfort; sister, Judy Lemmon of Homewood; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Jeff Wall; two sisters, Madeline Dorris and Shirley Wall; and a brother, Robert Wall.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a member of the VFW and Elks Lodge, both in West Frankfort, and UMWA.

He was a retired coal miner, who last worked at Old Ben 26 Coal Mine. After his retirement, he enjoyed fishing and hunting.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 29, 2010, in Parker-Reedy Funeral Home in West Frankfort, with the Rev. April Turner officiating. Burial with military rites by Orient and Zeigler American Legion posts and West Frankfort VFW will be in Denning Cemetery on Orient Road. Visitation will be after noon Friday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to TIP Hospice and will be accepted at the funeral home.
