Raymond Null Obituary

HERRIN -- Raymond Null, 72, died at 10:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 31, 2011, in Herrin Rehabilitation Center.

He was born Sept. 22, 1938, in Zeigler, the son of Jacob E. and Kate (Pullum) Null.

He married Sandra Lynn Falknor on Aug. 1958, and she preceded him in death.

He married Edith K. Oakley on Aug. 21, 1981, and she preceded him in death June 12, 2010.

He was a retired police detective for the city of Wilton Manors, Fla. He was the author of several books.

Raymond is survived by two daughters, Linda Null of New Braunfels, Texas, and Rebecca (Joel) Snider of Herrin; one son, David Null of Marion; one stepdaughter, Rebecca Francis of Southern Illinois; four granddaughters, Abby Snider of Herrin, Chrystal (Damon) Hickey of Carterville, Mandy (Ryan) Woodard of Energy and Lindsey Null of New Braunsfels, Texas; three grandsons, Daniel and Ryan Snider, both of Herrin, and Devon Null-Patterson of Carbondale; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, parents and several brothers and sisters.

Graveside services and inurnment will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, June 8, in Egyptian Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Jim Grant officiating.

My thoughts and prayers are with you all during this sad chapter of your lives. Although I never really got to know Uncle Ray, he will always hold a special place in my heart. My Grandpa Paul, was his brother. I am certain that somewhere, somehow, they are all together now. Smiling down on us. I will contine to pray that god somehow, give you all peace, through your sorrow.
