Cecil Bonds Obituary

JOHNSTON CITY -- Cecil Bonds, 77, died at 6 a.m., Wednesday, May 11, 2011, in VA Medical Center Nursing Home.

He was born Sept. 4, 1933, in Randles, Mo., the son of John Henry and Rosie Emily (Brees) Bonds.

He married Gloria Bradley on Jan. 17, 1973. She survives him.

He served his country honorably during the Korean War in the Marine Corps. Cecil worked as a jeweler silversmith and a carpenter. He had a passion for painting scenery. He attended White Ash Freewill Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Gloria; four daughters, Jackie Danalewich of Columbia, Tenn., Teri (Roy) Tykol of Watseka, Sheri (Tracy) Alvey of Cary and Kay Lawther of Blair, Minn.; two sons, Mark Bonds of Watseka and Eric (Karen) Bonds of Bradley; one brother, Henry (Cana) Bonds of Bourbonnais; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Debbie Kelley; son, Mitchell Bonds; one grandson, Jason Brault; parents, John and Rosie Bonds; five sisters, Marie Benn, Ossie Enders, Dorothy James, Pauline Stevens and Ethel Hanners and three brothers, Melvin, Billy and Jimmy Bonds.

Graveside services with military honors by Illinois National Guard will be at 11 a.m. Friday, May 13, in Egyptian Memorial Gardens Mausoleum with the Rev. Andy Lee officiating. Entombment will be at Egyptian Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. until funeral hour at Egyptian Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.

The family requests no flowers.
