Charlotte Macari Obituary

CHRISTOPHER -- Charlotte M. Macari, 92, died at 9:30 a.m. Monday, May 30, 2011, in Shawnee Christian Nursing Home in Herrin.

She was born Dec. 16, 1918, in Trinidad, Colo., to Massimo and Caterina (Maffeo) Antonino.

She married Dominic Macari Sr. on Dec. 14, 1940, in Christopher, and he preceded in death Jan. 17, 1986.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Dominic Macari Jr., and her brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Mary Antonino of St. Louis.

Survivors to cherish her memory and mourn her passing, include her daughter, Donella (Bill) Hickey of Christopher; one son, Charlie Macari of Christopher; daughter-in-law, Wilma Macari of Christopher; granddaughters, Melissa (Jay) McClanahan of Christopher, and Ginger (Donald) Flatt of Mulkeytown; great-grandchildren, Asten McClanahan, Trenton McClanahan, Dustin Pinkham, Hannah Flatt.

She was a member of St. Andrew Catholic Church of Christopher.

She worked at the Miner's Hospital in Christopher for many years, starting in 1954, and made many friends of whom she often spoke. She liked to cook, and her Sunday dinners will be always remembered fondly of by her family.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 2, 2011, in Gilbert Funeral Home in Christopher, with Father Joseph Trapp officiating. Burial will be in St. Andrew Catholic Cemetery in Christopher. Visitation will be at 9 to 11 a.m. Thursday June 2, 2011, at the funeral home. For more information, visit www.gilbertfuneralhomes.com.
