Elizabeth Smith Obituary

DE SOTO -- Elizabeth Anne Smith, 50, passed away at 11:12 a.m. Thursday, May 26, 2011, at her home in De Soto.

Elizabeth was born Aug. 28, 1960, in Joliet, the daughter of Edwin J. and Marion (Shaw) Steinlicht.

She married Scott Smith on May 18, 1988, in Joliet. Together, they shared 23 years of marriage. He survives in De Soto.

Mrs. Smith was a homemaker and had previously served as the Midwest sales director for Petra Fashions. Her life was her children and her family. She was an avid animal lover and enjoyed gardening, crocheting and traveling with her family.

Survivors include her husband, Scott Smith of De Soto, daughters, JoAnn Berg of Flossmoor, Amanda Matay of Tyler, Texas; son, Franklin Smith of Marian, Wis., son, Nicholas Smith of Herrin and twins, Jacob and Justine Smith of De Soto; granddaughter, Jaiden Broyles of Tyler, Texas; sister, Pamela and Bill Beck of Joliet; brother, David Steinlicht of Joliet; several nieces and nephews; and her beloved, faithful dog, Lucy, whom she rescued and gave a wonderful life.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Edwin J. Steinlicht Jr.

As per her wishes, her body was cremated. Memorial services will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday, June 11, in the Methodist church on Dean Street in Royalton.

Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin is assisting the family with arrangements.
