Ella Gibson Obituary
She was born May 27, 1947, in Christopher to Pearl and Wanda (Mabry) Gunter. She graduated in 1965 from Thompsonville High School and was a 1969 graduate of SIUC with a bachelor's degree in speech pathology.
She attended Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Thompsonville until she graduated from high school. She was employed at Colorado College in Colorado Springs, Colo., for 15 years until her retirement in 2001.
She married Richard Gibson on June 8, 1969, in Carbondale, and he survives.
Other survivors include two daughters, Beth (Motte) Brown of Hamilton, Va., and Jennifer (Chris) Huard of Colorado Springs, Colo.; nine grandchildren, Sophie, Henry, Grace, Luke, Olivia and Oliver Brown and Alice, Franklin and Hazel Huard; one sister, Janice (Bob) Manis, two nieces, Jill (Josh) Hefner and Julie Manis, and great-nephew, Nickolas Hefner, all of West Frankfort; and a host of cousins for whom she thought of dearly.
Her parents preceded her in death, along with her maternal grandparents, Grace (Dorris) and Henry Mabry; and paternal grandparents, Lee and Maude (Moore) Gunter.
Services and burial will be Wednesday, May 4, 2011, in Colorado Springs, Colo.
Local memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 14, 2011, in Calvary Baptist Church in West Frankfort, with Brother Mike Steed officiating.
Union Funeral Home in West Frankfort is in charge of local arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois, 204 Halfway Road, Marion, IL 62959. Envelopes will be available and accepted at the church or funeral home.

Dear Beth and Jennifer,
I am so sorry for the loss of your sweet Mother. I only met her a few times but found her to be very sweet and kind. My you find peace and comfort in Christ with the blessed hope of our salvation. ~~Blessings~~
