Lillian Hindman Obituary

HERRIN -- Lillian Hindman of Littleton, Colo., passed away June 3, 2011.

She was a longtime resident of Herrin until retirement in 1977, when she and her husband, Clell, moved to Littleton.

Lillian Wyatt was born July 22, 1918, in Herrin to Harvey and Sarah French Wyatt.

She married Clell Hindman on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 25, 1937, in Lyndon, Kan.

They had three sons, Douglas William, Roger Clell and Gary Wayne, and were happily married for 65 years. In the early years of their marriage, they lived in Boulder, Colo., returning to Herrin in l944, where they raised their family and successfully ran Egyptian Lines, a common-carrier trucking company. After retirement, they moved to Littleton to be closer to sons, Doug and Roger, and fulfill a lifelong dream of returning to Colorado. Lillian and family enjoyed many years in the mountains at the family cabin. She was active in her writing group, publishing several books about her family life. She had a soft spot in her heart for dogs, especially spaniels, and always had an adopted pet as part of her family.

She was most happy being a mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She is survived by sons, Doug and Roger, 11 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

Her son, Gary passed away in 1997 and husband, Clell, passed away in 2003.

A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Sunday, June 12, 2011, in Drinkwine Mortuary in Littleton, Colo. A private committal service will be on Monday, June 13, 2011, in Cedar Hill Cemetery in Castle Rock, Colo.

Roger & Doug and all your mother's treasured family,
It feels like loosing my own mother to read of your mother's passing. What a great lady! She was a major influence in my life as well as yours. I know I spent more time at the Hindman household growing up across the street than I did at my own. I want to express my deep sorrow for your loss and thank you for letting me share a little of both your parents, as well as the three of you boys. I think about those great days often and talk about both Lillian and Clell as if they were my own parents, and they were in many ways. Again, I share your pain, but I also rejoice at having them and you in my heart and memories.

Roger & Doug ~
My condolences on the loss of your Mother. I remember playing touch football in the Egyptian Heights while growing up with the Lynn's, Russell Allen, Jimmy Cappellano and others. Gary was a great guy ... he's missed also. We lived on Stotlar street.
