Luella Atchison Obituary

CHESTER -- Luella Gladys Atchison, 79, passed away at 3:50 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 23, 2010, in Independence Care Center in Perryville, Mo.

She was born Sept. 3, 1931, to Edmund and Hilda (Tiedemann) Gross in Perry County, Mo.

She married Milton "Pete" Atchison July 19, 1952, in Perryville, Mo.; he preceded her in death Nov. 14, 2003.

She was a farmer and homemaker.

She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Chester and was faithful in worship. She was also a member of Chester Fireman Women's Auxiliary.

Survivors include two children, Jerre D. (Annette) Atchison of Chester and Joyce (Robert A.) Carnahan of Red Bud; two sisters, Elsie Sandlin and Murla (Gilbert) Moore, both of Perryville, Mo.; one sister-in-law, Eleanor Adkisson of Champaign; five grandchildren, Zac (Casey) Carnahan, Collette Pegg, Cari (David) Lucht, Joshua Cox and Emily Atchison; six great-grandchildren, Samantha, Karly, Katelyn, Easton, Chase and Baby Clare.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Pete; one grandson, Cole Carnahan; and two brothers, Harold and Albert Gross.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 27, 2010, in St. John's Lutheran Church in Chester, with the Rev. Peter Ill officiating. Interment will be in Mill Creek Cemetery in Chester. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today and 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at Pechacek-McClure Funeral Home in Chester and 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church.

Memorials may be made to St. John Lutheran School.
