Margorie Kelley Obituary

CARTERVILLE -- Margorie B. Kelley, 80, formerly of Carbondale, passed away at 3:40 a.m., Saturday, June 4, 2011, in St. Louis University Hospital.

Margorie was born March 13, 1931, in Inkster, Mich., to Otis L. and Agnes E. (King) Davis.

She married Archie L. Kelley on Jan. 20, 1953, in Hernando, Miss. He preceded her in death Aug. 12, 2000.

Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Richard L. and Dianne B. Kelley of Carrollton, Ga.; one daughter and son-in-law, Julia (Kelley) and Dennis McGee of Clarksville, Tenn.; one son-in-law, Michael R. Holder of Carterville; eight grandchildren, Kathy Jo (Kevin) Haldeman, Christina M. Johnson, Jeremy (Heather) Johnson, Christy L. (Ben) Tarver, Valerie E. McGee, Eric T. Harper, Kristy Holder, and Lindsay (Damien) Hepp; four great-grandchildren, Madison Jo Haldeman, Trista Marie Johnson, Haley Marie Holder, and Marley Mae Hepp; three sisters, Lucille McGee of Wixom, Mich., Mary Engel of Carbondale, and Loretta Manis of Elkville; several nieces and nephews; several great-nieces and great-nephews; and one sister-in-law, Mary Lee Davis.

In addition to her husband, Archie, Margorie is preceded in death by her parents; grandparents; one daughter, Kathy Sue Holder; one daughter-in-law, Kathleen Kelley; four sisters, Mildred Mayo, Alice Hoops, Madelyn Miller, and Wanda Wisely; one brother, George Otis Davis; and four brothers-in-law.

Margorie is a member of First Baptist Church of Carterville and had been member of Lantana Baptist Church in Carbondale. She was a member of Carbondale Rebekah Lodge 220 since 1981, a life member of both the DAV Auxiliary 69 of Murphysboro and American Legion Auxiliary 504, and a member of the National AARP, as well as the Jackson County Chapter 504.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 8, in Meredith Funeral Home in Carbondale, with Pastor Brad Harlow officiating. Interment will be in Oakland Cemetery in Carbondale. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 7, at the funeral home in Carbondale.

Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Carterville and will be accepted by the funeral home.
