Michael Hogrefe Obituary
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 11, 2011, in Pechacek-McClure Funeral Home in Chester, with the Rev. Peter Ill officiating. Burial will be in St. John Lutheran Cemetery in Chester. Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to Cardinal Glennon Children's Hospital in St. Louis.
Mr. Hogrefe was working for the state of Illinois with the Illinois Youth Camp in Murphysboro.
He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Chester and was a retired sergeant with Chester Police Department.
He was born June 13, 1947, in Chester to Gilbert L. and Jacqueline (Lawder) Hogrefe.
Survivors include his mother, Jackie Hogrefe of Chester; one son, Eric Michael (Kristine) Hogrefe of Fenton, Mo.; one brother, Mark (Souad) Hogrefe of Chester; one sister, Michele (Jay) Link of Chester; special friend, Kathy Hagler; two stepgrandchildren; and several nieces and nephews
He was preceded in death by his father; and grandparents, Ray Lawder, Mary Lawder, Gilbert Hogrefe Sr. and Lena Hogrefe.

My name is Kathy i was Mike's girlfriend. He was the most caring and loving person i have ever known. Mike taught me how to love again and to trust someone with my heart after the death of my husband 19 months ago. I was blessed to have had him in my life. I will never ever forget you and I will always caring your memory in my heart. I love you and i miss you so much. Rest in peace my love and know you were loved by so many.

I worked with Mike at the police department. He was a good guy and once you got to know him at times pretty funny. My condolence to Jackie, Eric, and the rest of the family.

I thoroughly enjoyed knowing this man. He was to be respected and relied upon. Men of his character are few and far between. The world will feel this loss. My condolences to his family.
