Ronnie Jackson Obituary

COLP -- Ronnie L. Jackson, 71, was taken by God to become a special angel Monday, May 2, 2011, at her son's home in Hurst, surrounded by her family.

Services will be at 2 p.m., Friday, May 6, in Riggin-Pillatsch and Burke Funeral Home in Carterville with the Rev. Danny Norman officiating. Burial will be in Blairsville Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 6 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois, 204 Halfway Road, Marion, IL 62959. Envelopes will also be available at the funeral home.

Ronnie was born Sept. 5, 1939, in Streator to Howard L. and Wilma (Moran) Whittaker.

She married Ronald "Goat" Jackson on Dec. 31, 1985, in Marion.

She is survived by her husband, Ronald "Goat" Jackson of Colp; sons, Jim Morrison and Bill Morrison, both of Hurst; daughter and son-in-law, Cindy and Bob Johnson of De Soto; sisters and brothers-in-law, Marilyn and Ed Hogan of Carbondale, Mary Taylor of Mount Vernon, Sandra Whittaker of Denton, Texas, Judith and Tom Morgan of Ashley and Marilyn Rees of Albuquerque, N.M.; brothers and sisters-in-law, Jim and Mary Ann Whittaker of Crestview, Fla., and Earl and Marilyn Whittaker of Corinth, N.Y.; grandchildren and their spouses, Jimmy Morrison of Zeigler, Tina Bennett Chandler and her husband, Bill, of Hurst, Billy Dean and Kelsie Morrison of Colp, Austin Morrison of Goreville, Patrick Morrison of Phoenix, Christopher and Jessica Morrison of Marion, Brandi Chew and Lori Chew, both of Murphysboro, Mike Chew of Marion, Bonita Inchcliff and Lisa Inchcliff, both of Hurst, J.J. Inchcliff of Herrin; 39 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; special great-grandchildren, Kaileigh Bennett, Andrew Morrison and Chandler Skylar; and special friends, Don Houk, Kathy Cobb and Phyllis Denam.

Ronnie was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Rex Morrison; son, Terry L. Meuth; sisters, Linda Rowell, Walletta Whittaker and Theada Whittaker; and brothers, Benton, Kenneth and Burnard Whittaker.

She worked for SIU in the physical plant. She also worked at Good Luck Glove factory and Billy Produce stand on the Herrin/Colp Road.

Her true passion was painting. She was a painter for more than 27 years and was a member of Painters' Union in Carbondale.

She enjoyed playing poker machines and bingo lottery scratch-offs; dancing, especially the Waltz; doing crossword puzzles; she was an avid dog and cat lover; and watching "Two And a Half Men" with Billy and Kelsie. Most of all, Ronnie loved to spend time with her grandchildren.

The family would like to extend their thanks to Herrin Hospital, Parkway Manor and Hospice of Southern Illinois for all their help.
