Kurt Evans Obituary

Robert Kurt Evans

St. George, UT

Robert Kurt Evans, beloved father, son, brother, and friend, died in a car accident on September 22, 2012, in Washington County, Utah. He was born in Provo on June 14, 1975 to Kent and Annette Evans.

A man of deep integrity, Kurt's greatest love was for his four children. He loved spending time with them, whether it was boating, camping, playing basketball, swimming, going out to breakfast or simply watching football on TV. Kurt grew up in Mapleton, Utah and graduated from Springville High School. He was an Eagle Scout and attended UVSC. His family moved to St. George, and he worked for KV Electric for 7 years. He was a master electrician and commercial electrical contractor who owned his own business, Sandstone Electric. Everyone respected his honesty and quality workmanship.

Kurt enjoyed hunting, backpacking, fishing, and playing basketball with his dad and brothers. He was a talented musician who played the guitar, sang, and composed many family favorites. He loved working with wood and could build just about anything. A health-conscious outdoors man, he ran several marathons, loved rappelling, and recently hiked the Grand Canyon rim to rim in one day. Most of all, he was kind and generous and would lend a helping hand to anyone in need.

He is survived by his four children: Jackson, Emma, Ellie and Charley of St. George; parents Annette and Kent of Mapleton; siblings Nichole (David) Van Valkenburgh of Woodland Hills; Tyler (Alisha) of Mountain Green; Spencer (Amberly) of Farmington; Lyndsie (Solomon) Campbell of Forest Grove, OR; grandmothers Clara Evans and Norma Brady Melzer, ex-wife and dear friend Michelle Button, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and close friends.

Funeral services, under the direction of SereniCare, will be on Friday, September 28. The viewing will be from 9:00 to 10:45 am at the Middleton Ward, 807 W. Capilla Road, in Washington, Utah, followed by the funeral services at 11:00 am. Internment will be at Tonaquint Cemetery in St. George, UT.

The Patterson family fondly remembers Kurt well. He was in our home; our children were in his home. We shared the same church activities. We will never forget him nor his wonderful siblings and parents.

Kurt's calm, gentle, and serene nature was always a great example to me. He was the BEST electrician we ever used for our business, but more important than that he was a true good friend. I was devastated yesterday when I was made aware of the tragic news, my heart, love, and prayers go out to all the loved ones that he left behind. May his children know that their father is close and watching over them and still loving and protecting them. God bless you Kurt! You are and will be greatly missed!

Jackson, I am so sorry about the death of your dad. Your dad told me that he loved you and was so proud of you. I hope you know there are many of us thinking of you at school during this difficult time and may peace and comfort soon find your heart.

I was so sad to hear the terrible news of Kurt's death. Kurt was an excellent employee as well as a good and reliable friend. He was so talented and had such a kind and fun personality that it's hard to believe that he is really gone. Godspeed Kurt. My God bless those left behind that will miss you and ache to be with you again.

Kurt was a good friend. I'll always remember his fun nature and good heart. We had a lot of memorable times together. Playing sports, Jeep ride up Hobble Creek, private concerts in which he would perform, going out for breakfast, being together with good friends just to name a few. I will miss him.

What a beautiful tribute. Kurt was a wonderful cousin and will be dearly missed by so many people. You know how there are certain people in your life that you wish everyone in the world could have the privilege of knowing? Well Kurt was certainly one of them. He made you want to be a better person, to smile more, to try a little harder. May all of your wonderful memories of Kurt get you through this difficult time. He will be in our hearts forever.

My heart aches for the loss of Kurt, not only a beloved cousin but also a friend. My thoughts are with the rest of the family, especially Jackson, Emma, Ellie and Charley. Throughout our mourning, may we all find peace and reassurance in the belief that we now have an extra angel watching over us.
