Jacklyn Hamblin Rife, 80, passed away on Tuesday October 29th, 2013 in Kanab. She was born in Cedar City, Utah on August 12 , 1933 to Jack and Norma Hamblin.

Jackie was involved with the movies for most of her life. She worked with every film crew that came to town and met every star that came with them. She could ride a horse well and do all kinds of tricks. When she took up stunt riding in her teens, she would ride her horse as fast as she could and then fall off. She had a few broken fingers, ribs, etc., hardly anything to write home about. She appeared in over 15 movies as a stunt woman. Even though Jackie lived in California for many years she always came home to the red hills of Kanab.

When one of her stunts put her out of the game she thought the next best thing would be to talk about the movies. Jackie decided to work for the Kane County Travel Council giving out travel information. If you ever wanted to know the who-what-when or why of the movies made in Kane County, Jackie was the one to ask. Much has been written and many honors given of her life story, one of which was written by James D'Arc.

Jackie was not only great in the old western movies, she was also an exceptional friend, neighbor, sister and grandmother. If someone needed anything, even if it was only to talk, Jackie would be there.

Preceding her in death were her parents Jack and Norma Hamblin, her brother Wallace A. Hamblin and her son John R. Spencer.

Jackie is survived by her sisters Charlene Johnson, Sharon LaFerriere and Roselyn Martin; six grandchildren, Celeste, Dawn Marie, Kimberly, Kelli, Jessie and Ryan; 21 great grandchildren, 4 great great grand children and a myriad of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 9th at 1:00 p.m. in the Kanab, UT Kaibab Stake Center, 1435 S. McAllister Dr. Visitation will be from 12:00 to 12:45 p.m. at the church. Burial will be in the Kanab Cemetery. Arrangements were made with Mosdell Mortuary.

Her family wishes to thank Hospice, Zions Way, Jana Meadows and the Glacier staff, meals on wheels, close friends and her wonderful neighbors for all the help given her during her recent illnesses.
