Sending condolences to Glenn and family, as well as to the SWW women grieving the loss of a dear friend. Christine's loyal friendship and life long action for social change impacted many, including my Mom. For myself, as part of the next generation of women, that inspiration continues to shape me and how I raise my daughter. Wishing you all love today as you share stories and memories, tears and laughter, in Christine's honour. - Sheila

Dear Glen, Mark, James, Michael, and all the Smillie family, Today I both mourn with you the loss and celebrate the life of your strong, courageous, and integritous wife, mother, grandmother, and sister.
After knowing her for a short while when Mark and my youngest, Jesse, were in elementary school together, we reconnected more strongly in later years through our work with Iskwewuk E-wichiwitochik/Women Walking Together. She was both compassionate and fierce in this context, and we miss her spirit in our work. Hers was a life well and generously lived, and she deserves to be remembered with love and admiration.

Christine was my first work supervisor over 40 years ago. I learned from her integrity, commitment, and compassion. We worked again together over the decades as she served Saskatchewan & Canada in a variety of leadership capacities as a very able Executive Director. My sincere condolences to all of Christine's family and friends and colleagues. Her legacy will never be forgotten.

Dear Christine, what a loss of a gentle, compassionate, yet strong person who contributed enormously to the marginalized of our communities. I feel honored to have known Christine well throughout the years, particularly when I was part of the family, and helped care for her 3 boys:Mark, James and Michael. I enjoyed working with her in the political sphere as part of Saskatchewan Working Women. Christine had the ability to make one feel loved, respected and included. I loved her gentle, intelligent humour. I was lucky enough to visit with Christine recently on February 28th and witnessed her strength in coping with the pain of her cancer, yet wanting to find joy in sharing memories and photos of her children and grandchildren with me. My sympathy goes out to Mark, James and Michael, as well as Glen and Peter, and of course, Christine's siblings: Ruth, Beth, Mary Margaret and Andrew. All have suffered the loss of Adele, their mother (grandmother), in the last two months as well. Love to each of you. Sincerely, Ingrid

Dear Glenn, Mark, James and Michael and to all the Smillie family, I received with a lot of sorrow the news about Christine passing away. She was of a wonderful woman, who helped so many people, gave affection, hope when one would be feeling lost. Christine, thank for all you did, for teaching me about Canada and the prairies, and for all that solidarity to the refugees. From far away Chile, Lily Casas

Glen, Mark, James, Michael, Ruth, Beth, Andrew and Mary and Christine's' extended family,
Please accept our family's deepest condolences. Christine exemplified everything that is decent in our world. As a global citizen she was honest, forthright, witty and kind. She knew how to lead a quality that Christine inherited from her parents Adele and Ben Smillie. We will miss Christine Smillie.

My thoughts and condolences go out to family and friends during this difficult time. It is so unfortunate that Christine's cancer journey occupied the last 15 years of her life. Her passion and work to build healthy communities and equality for all have made a mark and she leaves this world a better place.

Dearest Christine, a huge and deep loss, but what a gift she was, a global conscience deeply rooted in Saskatchewan, solidarity and essential politics. Like her father, deep insight, and her mother, a builder of humane community. A challenging and loyal friend above all.
