HUGH TAIT Obituary

Published by Saskatoon StarPhoenix from May 24 to May 26, 2014.
TAIT, HUGH JOHN (JACK)
(1932 - 2014)
Our dear Jack passed away peacefully at RUH on Thursday, May 22. He left his loving family, wife Lottie, children Judy, Cathy, Tim (Nancy), grandchildren Tom, Rebecca, Kimberly, and Jon, step children Doug (Melissa) Rea, Susie (Gord) Paddock and step grandchildren Turner, Duncan, Ty, and Jordyn. Jack was predeceased by his first wife Pat, granddaughter Katie, brother Jim, and parents Hugh and Dorothy Tait. Jack's greatest love was golfing with his buddies at Waskesiu, Clear Lake and many other spots. Jack was a member of the Saskatoon Golf and Country Club for the past 64 years. He golfed the day he became ill and passed away 48 hours later. Jack was a sports enthusiast and loved to watch his grandchildren excel in their sporting activities. A celebration of Jack's life will take place at the Saskatoon Golf & Country Club on Thursday May 29 from 3-5 pm. Please come and share your stories and laugh and cry with us. Donations to The Salvation Army would be greatly appreciated. Condolences may be sent to [email protected]. Arrangements have been entrusted to SASKATOON FUNERAL HOME (244-5577).

I had the good fortune to attend City Park Collegiate at the same time as Jack. I recall with pleasure our years as classmates. In recent years Jack led the committee that organized the very successful reunions of CPCI 1946-1950. I will miss Jack. My thoughts go out to his family and especially Lottie.

To the Family of Jack Tait:
Growing up in Saskatoon, I spent much of my time as a youngster trying to master the games of golf and curling. As a member of both the Saskatoon Golf & Country Club and the Nutana Curling Club, I had the opportunity to watch Jack and attempt to emulate his sporting talents.
My father and Jack's Dad were great friends, which allowed me an opportunity to get to know another great member of the Tait family.
Jack was a wonderful gentleman.
Sincere sympathy.
