John Boyko

JOHN PETER BOYKO March 31st, 1921 June 13th, 2010 It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of John Boyko at 89 years of age. Dad was born and raised on the family farm in the Rosthern, SK area. A WWII veteran, Dad proudly served his country during his years of active service with the Royal Canadian Artillery. After the war, Dad returned to SK, married his sweetheart, raised eight (8) children, farmed, and later ran a successful concrete construction company in Saskatoon. He is predeceased by his parents, Petro and Alexandra Boyko (nee Poczapinski); brothers, Matt, Bill, Steve, Sam and Mike Boyko; and his sisters, Mary Boyko and Olga Widuk (nee Boyko). He will be missed by Mary Boyko and their eight children: Sonja (Willie) and children Walter (Tammie) and Warren (Wendy); Alex (Vivian) and children Aaron (Kari), Jason and Jared; Brenda (Murray) and daughter Jennifer (Chris); Dianna (Richard) and children Korrina (Wayne) and Ryan (Aideen); Linda (Peter) and daughter Laila (Brenden); Sandra (Murray) and children Trevor, Hailey and Christian; Elizabeth (Lyle) and children Brandon, Elisabet, Morgan, Chenaniah and Thomas; Len (Carolyn) and by his nine great grandchildren. We thank the many staff and friends at his senior's day programs and at Quality Care Homes for enriching his life with the activities, card games, music and companionship that he so enjoyed. Prayer Service for John will be held on Monday, June 21st at 7:30 p.m. and the Divine Liturgy will be celebrated on Tuesday, June 22nd, at 10:00 a.m. Both services held at St. George's Ukrainian Catholic Cathedral (214 Avenue M South).
