TED MAZUREK

MAZUREK, Ted
Died peacefully in the early hours of Saturday, April 2, 2016 at Saskatoon City Hospital at the age of 85. Ted was born in 1930 in the Carrot River area to Stanley and Christina (née Krystof). After completing his schooling in Carrot River in 1949, Ted moved to Saskatoon to attend the University of Saskatchewan where he obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Agriculture. On October 11, 1958, Ted married Eileen Nagy in Wakaw and they began their life together in Saskatoon. They raised three daughters and one son. When the children were young, Ted enjoyed many family vacations at Waskesiu and fishing outings with both family and friends. Ted took pride in the house he built with his father and brothers in Sutherland and enjoyed the many years he spent puttering around in its yard and shed. With his brother Stan, he also built his beloved cabin at Domremy Beach at Wakaw Lake where he spent many treasured hours fixing things, cooking food over an open fire, and picking berries. Ted spent his entire career as an analytical chemist working at the National Research Council on the U of S campus. He thoroughly enjoyed his many years at NRC, both his research and his authoring of articles for research literature. Throughout his life, Ted was a passionate swimmer and a fan of country music. Ted had great memories of his travels which included a trip to Arizona and to Hawaii as well as a trip to Costa Rica in 2010 for his eightieth birthday where he went zip lining and whitewater rafting. Left to mourn Ted are Eileen (Nagy), his wife of 57 years; daughter Diane (Chris Poole) Mazurek (Stacey, Julia, and Kathleen) of Saskatoon; son Alan (Helen) Mazurek of Saskatoon; daughter Donna (John) Frederick of Saskatoon; and daughter Denise (David) Natyshak of Ottawa, ON. Ted also leaves to mourn his brother and friend, Leon (Ollie) as well as many other members of his extended family and friends. Ted was predeceased by his parents Stanley and Christina, an infant sister Rose, and four brothers, Peter, Stanley, Eugene, and John. At Ted's request, there will be a small private family service. In lieu of flowers, donations in Ted's memory may be made to The Salvation Army Community Centre (339 Avenue C South Saskatoon, Saskatchewan S7M 1N5) or a charity of the donor's choice.
