Gerhardt Eberle Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Mar. 10, 2005.
EBERLE -The death of Mr. Gerhardt Gary Eberle, 82 years, of Lutheran Sunset Home, Saskatoon, and formerly of Spalding, occurred at his residence on Sunday, March 6, 2005. Gary was born on February 12, 1923 in Annaberg, Germany to Josef and Martha (nee Unger) Eberle. In 1925, the family moved to Canada, settling in the Annaheim district. Gary's mother passed away shortly after the family moved to Canada. He attended Hat Creek School until grade 6 and then began helping on the family farm. He left the farm for a few years, moving to Lethbridge, AB where he worked in the sugar beet industry. Eventually, Gary returned to the Spalding district where he bought a quarter of land and began farming. He farmed until the early 1980's, when he retired and moved to Saskatoon. While living in Saskatoon, he kept busy as the caretaker of an apartment complex. About eight years ago, after being diagnosed with Alzheimer's Disease, and unable to live on his own any longer, Gary became a resident at the Lutheran Sunset Home until his passing. In his younger years, Gary enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was an avid curler, who also was icemaker and caretaker of the Spalding Curling Rink for many years. Gary was always ready with a helping hand, willing to offer help to any family or friends in need, a trait which helped him in his role as a volunteer fireman. Gary will be lovingly remembered by his four sons, seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren: David (Darlene) Eberle of Humboldt and family, Natasha (Gavin) Paulsen and their children, Alanna and McLaren, Rodney Eberle (fiancee Valene Wiles) and Byron Eberle (special friend, Eryn Siba); Glen Eberle of Edmonton and family, Donna Eberle and Bryan Eberle; Bruce Eberle of Edmonton and family, Shelley Eberle (Allan Pascoe) and son, Brock, and Tyler Eberle; and Barry Eberle of Edmonton; four brothers and one sister: Hilda Eberle; Leonard (Leah) Eberle; Frank (Judy) Eberle; Eddie (Lucille) Eberle and John Eberle; and by numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Josef and Martha Eberle; four sisters and two brothers: Nora, Elsie, Edna, Marga, Werner and Joe. The Funeral Service for Gary will be held on Friday, March 11, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. at Malinoski & Danyluik Funeral Home, Highway 5 East, Humboldt with Fr. Murray Kuemper, officiating. Others taking part in the service will be: organist, Kathy Detillieux; readers, Natasha Paulsen and Donna Eberle; intercessions, Byron Eberle; and words of remembrance, Marie Stevenson. Cremation will follow, with interment at St. Martin's R.C. Cemetery, Spalding district, at a later date. Memorial donations may be directed to the Alzheimer Society of Saskatchewan. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Connie Danyluik, MALINOSKI & DANYLUIK FUNERAL HOME, Humboldt (306-682-1622)
